Lasting Power of Attorney

You can appoint people you trust to act for you if you become frail or mentally incapable of managing your own affairs.

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which enables you to appoint a person or persons of your choice to act on your behalf.

Your attorneys can help with paying living expenses, managing investments and selling property. They can also can make decisions about care needs, living arrangements and medical decisions.

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 states that your attorneys must always act in your best interests.

Lasting Powers of Attorney have no effect until they are registered with the Court of Protection.
