Court of Protection & Deputyship

We can also make applications to the Court of Protection for a Deputyship Order when a person lacks the capacity to choose an attorney.

The Court of Protection grants deputyship orders to appoint someone to manage the affairs of a person who lacks capacity.

The Court decides what decisions the Deputy may make. These include day-to-day financial management and the sale of someone’s property and investments. The Court determines which level of supervision. This can be a light approach or a far more onerous level of supervision. In most cases the Deputy will have to make an annual financial report.

We can help with the application to the Court. Additionally experienced members of our team routinely act as the Deputy for a wide range of vulnerable people.

We can carry out whatever financial work is required. We pay bills, provide cash for personal expenses, claim benefits, monitor capital and income, complete tax returns and so on.

We liaise with family, carers and social services to ensure that our work is in the individual’s best interests.
