Mr Gerald Ashburner Mooring Aldridge, the founding Partner of what was to become Aldridge Brownlee Solicitors LLP, first opened his office doors to clients in 1929. He probably did not expect that some 90 years later the law firm would still be going strong at the heart of the local community.
In 1929 George V was on the throne. It was also the year of the first Oscars ceremony and the Wall Street Crash. Much of course has changed since then. Aldridge Brownlee now have four offices across Bournemouth and Christchurch with 12 Partners and over 70 members of staff. We advise on most areas of law. For example, our lawyers specialise in advising individuals in regard to divorce, childcare proceedings, buying and selling property, inheritance and disputes. We also act for commercial clients in regard to land development, leases, contracts and shareholder agreements.
Senior Partner Andy Pitt, who has been with the firm since 1975, has said: "We have always been a family friendly firm with deep roots in the local area. Looking after our clients and giving them the best possible service is what matters and that approach, together with our wonderful staff, is why we have been so successful.
It's really fantastic to be celebrating our 90th anniversary. The firm has grown considerably since the early days and it is wonderful to take the opportunity to reflect on the success and development of the business over such a long period and all the people who have helped to make that happen.
Though the law and society as a whole have changed greatly since 1929, this anniversary goes to show that people still require good and sound legal advice just as they did back in 1929. Here’s to the next 90 years".
